Islamic council welcomes invitation of Sheikh Tayyeb, Pope Francis to Bahrain Forum for Dialogue

The Supreme Council For Islamic Affairs hailed an invitation by Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Grand Imam of Al Azhar Ahmed Tayyeb, the head of the Muslim Council of Elders, and Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, to visit Bahrain next month to participate in the Bahrain Forum for Dialogue: East and West for Human Coexistence.

According to a statement by the Al Azhar Sheikhdom, the council welcomed holding this international event under the auspices of the Bahraini monarch.

The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs will organize the event alongside the Muslim Council of Elders and the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence.

The council also lauded Bahrain’s hosting of the Muslim Council of Elders’ ordinary session under Tayyeb, stressing full solidarity with its noble goals, especially for promoting peace in Muslim communities.
