Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati on Saturday 02/04/2022 said that climate change has clear impact on the hydrological cycle and supplies of fresh water all over the world.
This represents a serious threat to water and food security as well as on means of living and ecosystems, the minister added.
Abdel Aati made the remarks during his virtual participation in a session held as part of the Middle East and North Africa Climate Week 2022 (MENACW22) on water scarcity and migration; challenges and opportunities to achieve sustainable development in the Middle East and North Africa region.
He asserted the importance of achieving regional cooperation among the states on the basis of mutual benefit in the climate adaptation field and updating water and climate-related national plans nationwide.
Egypt supports efforts of the Water and Climate Leaders Panel, launched by the World Meteorological Organization and the UN-Water to prepare an integrated water and climate agenda and accelerate the implementation of the UN’s sixth sustainable development goal on water, he said.
