Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan el Khatib underlined the importance of economic ties between Egypt and Britain, which is considered one of the largest trading partners for Egypt.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached about 2.8 billion sterling in 2023, he added.
Additionally, the total British investments until last June amounted to dlrs 21.5 billion in a number of sectors, most notably petroleum, financial services, communications and industry, added the minister during an expanded session of talks held with UK Trade Commissioner for Africa John Humphrey.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of boosting trade and investment ties between Egypt and the UK within the upcoming period.
The minister, meanwhile, said that he will pay a visit to Britain this month to hold meetings with governmental officials and businessmen.
For his part, the British official affirmed his country’s keenness on promoting investment and trade ties with Egypt.
He further said that
there are significant investment opportunities for the British companies to carry out business in Egypt.
