Int’l organizations, Irbid governorate stakeholders hold meeting on building strategic partnerships, 2nd, final add

Cabrol explained that the level of poverty has increased among the refugees, and the UNHCR continues to provide financial support to them to maintain the social level, especially since 69 percent of them live in places below the acceptable level in terms of ventilation, lighting, and services.

Cabrol pointed out that refugees face difficulties in terms of lack of medicine and treatment and their transportation from Irbid to the capital to receive treatment, so refugees are still unable to access medical services, stressing the need to promote mental health and social protection for refugees.

Cabrol stressed the importance of coordinating efforts and initiatives at the level of the Irbid governorate and preventing duplication in the implementation of programs, and that UNHCR will work with all partners to serve refugees on a continuous and permanent basis to improve their conditions and living conditions.

Head of the Bani Ubaid Municipal Committee, Jamal Abu Ubaid, said that the Bani Ubaid district has a po
pulation of 300,000 people, including a large percentage of Syrians, which caused the environmental situation in the district to deteriorate and the municipality’s need for support from international organizations in order to continue providing services.

He pointed out that the number of garbage trucks in the district is 14, half of which are broken, and the municipality needs garbage trucks and vehicles to enhance and improve the overall hygiene, calling for providing support to the municipality to enable it to provide its services better.

Amjad Najdawi, a UNDP’s main project coordinator, said that this meeting aims to discuss the challenges and difficulties facing the implementation of projects and devise ways to overcome them, stressing the need to collect and coordinate information in a way that facilitates scanning and analysis to ensure that the response to humanitarian and developmental needs is in place.
