International Cooperation Minister Rania al-Mashat participated on Friday in the FT Climate Capital Live 2022 that gathers decision-makers and leaders to discuss actionable visions of climate action, innovative finance, and enhancing global commitments to a green economy transition.
During her current visit to the UK, Mashat stressed the importance of boosting the innovative financing tools to ensure turning the commitments made during the United Nations (UN) COP26 Summit into actions into the COP27, affirming the necessity of providing support to emerging countries to mitigate the consequences of climate change.
Mashat asserted the importance of the private sector’s participation in funding projects related to adaption and mitigating climate change, as well as outlining a framework of how to activate the mixed financing for funding the green projects through the partnership between the public and private sectors.
The minister talked about Egypt’s efforts to transform into a green economy by establishing an ambitious list of projects and bolstering cooperation with bilateral and multilateral development partners to offer development funds and technical support for the adaption projects in the sectors of agriculture, treatment, and desalination of water and new and renewable energy.
