Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat and Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov have discussed joint cooperation aspects and the prospects of future cooperation.
The discussions fell within the framework of the meeting of the Egyptian-Azerbaijani joint committee for economic, scientific, and technical cooperation, which took place in Baku on February 23-25, with the participation of Egypt’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Adel Ibrahim.
In a statement by the ministry on Saturday 26/02/2022, Mashat welcomed continued cooperation and coordination between the governments of both countries, building on the outcomes of the committee’s 5th meeting, during which the sides agreed to work for boosting bilateral cooperation at various levels.
Voicing hope for increasing trade exchange and joint investments in priority areas, Mashat added that Egypt’s ongoing projects of new and renewable energy, new city, rural and agricultural development offer great cooperation opportunities.
She also highlighted proposed cooperation opportunities in the oil, mining, healthcare, pharmaceutical, financial, and tax sectors.
Mashat said that Egypt’s ongoing development cooperation portfolio had amounted $26 billion, used for financing around 372 projects in various development sectors.
Meanwhile, Jabbarov asserted his country’s interest in pushing mutual cooperation forward and increasing the role of the Egyptian private sector in various development projects in Azerbaijan.
He also looked forward to bolstering mutual cooperation for transitioning to a green economy and embracing green hydrogen, given under the current global climate challenges.
