International organisations praised the leadership of the United Arab Emirates and its pioneering experience in anticipating the future of human rights during an international symposium organised by the Union Association for Human Rights.

This event took place on the sidelines of the UAE’s participation in the 56th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, held at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

The symposium, organised in cooperation with the Arab-European Human Rights Dialogue and several European international organisations under the title “Future Summit: Human Rights Challenges in the Future,” reviewed the UAE’s efforts and achievements in addressing future challenges affecting human rights, including those posed by modern technologies, artificial intelligence, and environmental and climate issues.

During the symposium, which witnessed a keynote by Maryam Al Ahmadi, Vice President of the Union Association for Human Rights, international experts emphasised the importance of the United Nation
s’ role and its contributions to enhancing the future human rights situation and addressing global challenges. They underscored the need for enhanced international solidarity among all stakeholders to establish effective and integrated efforts focused on future human rights conditions.

The symposium praised the UAE’s pioneering and inspiring experience in anticipating the future of human rights, recognising it as a unique international model for enhancing status and achieving leadership in many human rights-related aspects.

Several international indicators highlighting the UAE’s leadership in anticipating the future and advancing human rights, including digital readiness, were reviewed during the symposium.

Speakers highlighted that the UAE is among the leading countries that have successfully navigated many future challenges by leveraging modern technologies and artificial intelligence for human well-being. They emphasised the importance of learning from the UAE’s experience and its global leadership in f
uture anticipation to achieve human aspirations and well-being.

At the conclusion of the symposium, speakers stressed the importance of the United Nations Sustainable Development Plan, the Future Charter, and the Global Digital Rights Charter, which will be launched at the ‘Future Summit’ next September in New York.

They called for a new global agreement on future human rights and the strengthening of international partnerships to implement the development programmes and goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a focus on specific challenges related to the environment, climate, and modern technology.
