SHANGHAI: The 26th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) kicked off on Friday in the east Chinese metropolis, ushering in a 10-day feast of motion pictures for all film enthusiasts.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), the Golden Goblet Awards of the SIFF will be conferred during the event through rigorous selection.
These awards are esteemed internationally for their recognition and influence within the film and television industry.
According to the SIFF’s official release, more than 3,700 films from 105 countries and regions have been received for this year’s SIFF competition and screening.
Among the 2,224 competition entries, there are 1,375 world premieres and 390 international premieres. The increasing number of premieres reflects the festival’s growing international influence.

Founded in 1993, SIFF is a competitive global event driven by Shanghai’s efforts to become an international cultural hub.
