International Cooperation Minister probes efforts to boost cooperation

Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashat conferred with Iraqi Economy and Trade Minister Atheer al Ghurairy on arrangements for Cairo’s hosting of the second round of the higher joint Egyptian-Iraqi committee to promote ties.

The meeting reviewed the outcome of the first round that was held in 2020 in Baghdad under the ministers of both countries and resulted in inking 15 cooperation documents in different domains of mutual interest including mining and petroleum, exchanging expertise in the fields of justice and court work, water resources and irrigation, stock market and environment protection.

Mashat asserted the keenness of the Egyptian state in light of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to go ahead in boosting cooperation with Iraq in numerous fields whether via bilateral cooperation or trilateral cooperation grouping Egypt, Iraq and Jordan.

She pointed out to the importance of activating all the memorandums of understanding and documents inked between both governments during the first round of the joint committee.

Mashat said that Egypt is looking forward to the second round as it represents a new stage of cooperation between both countries, voicing hope that it will help in increasing investments and trade exchange between both sides in addition to scaling up the participation of Egyptian companies in the reconstruction of Iraq.

She asserted that the Ministry of International Cooperation is exerting utmost efforts to render the activities of the joint committee successful.
