Interior Ministry successfully reduces crime rate by 15% in 2022

Mahmoud Tawfiq has been acting since his appointment as Interior Minister in June 2018 to improve the quality of police services offered to citizens.

Achieving comprehensive security has always been in the heart of his job, while taking into consideration human rights and societal participation. It has been his duty to strengthen trust between policemen and citizens.

Over the past four and half years, Tawfiq has worked to upgrade the security system to cope with the New Repulic, whose pillars were set up by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

As Egypt marks the 71st Police Day, which falls on January 25, MENA is shedding light on the most prominent efforts and success stories of the Interior Ministry over the past year.

The police and military have been working together to achieve security and foil any attempts to shake the stability of Egypt, according to a MENA report on Monday.

The Interior Ministry has successfully acted to reduce crime rates by about 15 percent in 2022 compared with the year before.

This is credited to the continued improvement of all police sectors, including upgrading the capabilities of human cadres through updated plans and training systems.

Technology has also contributed to developing the policy of the Interior Ministry that changed from one of reaction to decisive initiative and prevention, which, according to the report, had a positive effect on security and stability across the country.

Over the past year, the security apparatus arrested more than 1,500 gangs and seized 50,000 firearms, the report made it clear.

Also more than 25 million court rulings have been implemented in 2022, according to the report.
