Cairo: Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq sent a cable of greetings to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the anniversary of Israa and Miraj, an event significant in Islamic tradition marking the night journey of Prophet Muhammad.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Tawfiq expressed his wishes for Egypt’s continued progress and prosperity in his message. Al-Israa and Al-Miraj, which is observed by Muslims on the 27th day of the Hijri month of Rajab, commemorates the night when Allah took Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Al Quds and subsequently to heaven.
