Interior Minister issues guidelines for accommodating displaced southerners amid security developments


In light of the ongoing security developments, Interior and Municipalities Minister, Bassam Mawlawi, on Monday directed governors to enhance cooperation regarding the significant influx of displaced individuals from southern regions.

To facilitate this, Mawlawi convened a meeting with the ministry’s crisis cell, joined by Dr. Hilda Khoury, Director of Guidance and Orientation at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

To ensure the safety and security of Lebanese citizens, several schools and official institutions will be opened as shelters, including:

Zahle and Bekaa

– Houch Al-Omara Training Institute

– Qab Elias Official Primary School

– Al-Qaroun Official School

Baalbek-Hermel

– Deir Al-Ahmar Official Intermediate School

Tyre

– Tyre Official School

Beirut and Surrounding Areas

– Prime Minister Nabih Berri Complex in Bir Hassan

– Dekwaneh Hospitality School

Tripoli

– Tripoli Marine Hospitality Institute, along with various official schools in secure areas of the south.

Additionally
, several schools and official institutions in Mount Lebanon-particularly in Shouf, Aley, and Baabda-have begun accepting displaced individuals.

Further announcements regarding additional shelter locations will be made as necessary.

Mawlawi also instructed the Internal Security Forces and all security agencies to support the displacement and shelter operations, assist Lebanese citizens, maintain security and order, and protect public and private property.
