Egypt’s Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, presented the ministry’s developmental plan for the sector to a parliamentary committee. He emphasized that the strategy of constructing a digital Egypt is a key goal of this agenda.

The Minister highlighted several key focuses of the plan, including simplifying procedures for citizens in a clear and accessible manner, enhancing the quality of digital infrastructure comprehensively, and fostering job opportunities and digital creativity among citizens.

He continued that these focuses have to be enhanced by a legislative framework to be applicable by all citizens and by cooperation between the government and private sectors.

Speaking on the cybersecurity, Talaat said that it has become very important as cyberattacks represent threats to society. He stressed that the country is working on the strengthening of monitoring and response efforts to create a secure digital infrastructure, and cyber-defenses.

He also highlighted the importan
ce of training human cadres, raising awareness among the Egyptian citizen, and enhancing cooperation with friendly countries in cybersecurity; besides, strengthening Egypt’s soft power by relying on digital means.

To preserve Egyptian heritage, the Minister said that the ministry has started a project for a digital Egypt heritage platform, and will also expand artificial intelligence applications to make knowledge available in all its aspects.
