ILO Chief Hails Morocco’s Efforts to Generalize Social Protection


Rabat – International Labour Organization (ILO) Director-General, Gilbert F. Houngbo, hailed on Tuesday in Rabat Morocco’s undeniable efforts to generalize social protection and improve working conditions for all sections of society.

Speaking at a meeting with the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Khalid Ait Taleb, Houngbo said he appreciated the fact that “no one is left behind” in Morocco’s social strategy, which aims to guarantee the well-being of the entire population.

He underlined the Kingdom’s commitment to respecting and promoting fundamental social rights, as well as the progress achieved in Morocco in terms ofcollecting and using data for a more efficient management of social protection.

The ILO Director-General also praised Morocco’s efforts to modernize its information systems and improve its ability to assess needs and deliver services in a more targeted and efficient way.

For his part, Ait Taleb commended ILO’s crucial role in promoting social justice and guaranteeing decent work, un
derlining Morocco’s ongoing commitment to ILO programs, notably the promotion of employment, the fight against child labor and the consolidation of social dialogue.
