Bracing for the international climate summit next month, the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) has issued a report on how aware Egyptians are about climate change.
The IDSC report cited figures provided by a survey conducted by Data For Good, which showed that 77 percent of Egyptians know about climate change.
Of those, 8 percent are well aware of climate change, while 27 percent somewhat know about it and 42 percent of Egyptians have little knowledge about the problem.
The report also mentioned a poll conducted by Ipsos, which showed that 78 percent of Egyptians believe that climate change does exist: 52 percent of them think it is part of the cycle of nature and 26 percent think it is mostly caused by human activity.
According to the poll, 30 percent of those surveyed believe that environment sustainability is the responsibility of the government, while 35 percent think it is that of society. Also, 34 percent of Egyptians said it is the responsibility of businesspeople.
