IDSC examines prospects for Egyptian tourism in new republic

The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) issued a new research paper under the rubric ” Prospects for Egyptian tourism in light of the transition to the new republic”.

The paper exposes the challenges which face the achievement of sustainable tourism development and explains the requirements for involving the tourism sector in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The paper indicated that the tourism and hospitality sectors in Egypt had been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It also cited a report issued by the the World Tourism Organization, saying that the international tourist arrivals declined globally by 73 percent in 2020, with 1 billion fewer travelers compared to 2019.

The COVID-19 crisis has led to a collapse in international travel, added the paper, pointing out to the challenges besetting the tourism sector in Egypt, topped by the Russia-Ukraine war and other global challenges.
