The Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) said the funds allocated for social programs hit EGP 356 billion in addition to EGP 310 billion for the health sector in the new fiscal year budget.
The state also earmarked EGP 476 billion for tertiary and university education and EGP 79 billion for scientific research in the budget, the center.
This came in an infograph published by the center on government spending on social sectors in the new budget.
The center added that EGP 191 billion for pension funds, marking a EGP 38 billion rise.
Also, EGP 90 billion was channelled into subsidized commodities and bread for 71 million citizens, while EGP 22 billion went to Takaful and Karama program and social solidarity programs to increase beneficiaries to 4 million families.
