Ichem Zaher will make history as the first Moroccan to attempt Enduroman, an ultra-distance triathlon from London to Paris scheduled to take place between August 19 and 28.
The event consists of a 140-kilometer (87-mile) run, a 40-kilometer (25-mile) swim of the English Channel, and a 300-kilometer (over 185-mile) bike to the Paris.
“This challenge is a source of pride for me in order to inspire young Moroccans, athletes and women around the world to push their limits and believe in their abilities to achieve their goals,” Zaher told MAP.
The triathlete added that he hopes to win this event and has prepared intensively.
In addition to the athletic aspect, Zaher is undertaking this challenge for a noble cause: to raise funds for cardiac surgery sponsorship aimed at saving Senegalese children suffering from heart defects.
This, according to Zaher, has added a deeper meaning to his commitment and efforts, claiming that the triathlon will be an ultimate test of ‘human resilience and determination.’
Zaher ha
s participated in numerous sporting events, including three Marathon des Sables (257-kilometer/160-mile run) and ten Ironmans (3.8-kilometer/2.4-mile swim, 180.2-kilometer/111.9-mile cycle and a 42.195-kilometer/26.21-mile run).
‘To me, the Enduroman represents the pinnacle of endurance and perseverance,” he concludes.
