Minister of Transport of South Africa, Sindisiwe Lydia Chikunga, said that third conference of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) on Aviation and Alternative Fuels hosted by the United Arab Emirates in Dubai is an ideal opportunity to discuss the implications of climate change issues, calling on the ICAO member states to find radical solutions and accelerate international cooperation to preserve the environment and reduce emissions.
The minister noted in statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of her participation in the event that developing countries need financial resources and adequate support, especially in terms of the necessary training in order to keep pace with these pressing issues and take the necessary measures to address climate change.
The South African Minister advocated for enhanced awareness and comprehensive health education initiatives to address food security concerns, emphasising that any solutions proposed by developed nations must not dispropor
tionately disadvantage developing countries.
