The spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ravina Shamdasani, confirmed that the situation of civilians in Gaza and Lebanon is getting worse by the day.

Shamdasani pointed out in a press conference that the densely populated Lebanese capital Beirut is increasingly being subjected to Israeli airstrikes, which resulted so far in the killing of several civilians, including children and women, and caused a million people to flee their homes.

The spokesperson for the Human Rights Office highlighted the “continuing horrific humanitarian suffering in Gaza,” noting that the Israeli occupation army has intensified its operations in northern Gaza, which has further isolated the area from the rest of the Strip and once again endangered the lives of civilians in the area.

She pointed to the raids, intensive shelling, gunship fire, and ground incursions that have targeted residential buildings and groups of residents in recent days, causing many injuries and the mass displacement of Pal
estinians from the area, in addition to the continued attacks on hospitals.

She indicated that the army continues to issue orders to Palestinians in northern Gaza to leave, and many of them remain trapped and unable to move safely.
