Cairo: Engineer Sherif El-Shorbiny, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, welcomed Slovak Ambassador Ms. Lenka Mihalikova in Cairo to explore collaborative opportunities in smart city development and investment in Egypt’s emerging fourth generation cities, alongside ministry officials.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the conversation highlighted Slovakia’s involvement in the twelfth session of the World Urban Forum held in Cairo, endorsed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. During the forum, Egypt’s national strategy for smart cities was rolled out, emphasizing sustainable urban centers featuring diverse investment prospects, including industrial zones focused on modern technologies.
Minister El-Shorbiny underscored President El-Sisi’s directives to bolster Egyptian industry and local products. The Ministry is committed to fostering collaboration with global firms to exchange knowledge and localize contemporary technologies, especially within construction and water management sectors.
Ambassador Mihalikova lauded Egypt’s urban renaissance and expressed a keen interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation, leveraging Egypt’s urban development expertise. She extended an invitation to Minister El-Shorbiny for the third annual “Smart Cities Agenda Forum” scheduled for April 2025 in Slovakia.
