Housing Minister: Egypt free of dangerous slums

Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Assem el Gazzar said Saturday 16/10/2021 that the state worked to achieve housing security for citizens in line with the recently-launched human rights strategy.

In 2014, about 14-20 million people (40% of Egypt’s population) lived in unsafe slums, the minister said.

The state’s plan and initiatives have completely eliminated this phenomenon, he added.

By the end of 2021, 250,000 housing units will be delivered within the framework of the national alternative housing projects, Gazzar said.
