House committee, Turkish envoy talk cooperation, region

Chairman of the Lower House Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Khaldoun Haina, stressed the importance of the Hashemite custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites. During the committee’s meeting on Monday, with Turkish ambassador to Jordan, Erdem Ozan, Haina called on halting Israeli occupation forces’ attacks on the brotherly Palestinian people. Haina also referred to harmony in Jordanian-Turkish positions on the key regional and international crises, especially high-profile issues, as the two countries’ leadership make distinguished stances in confronting Israeli arrogance towards the Palestinian cause and its violations against Jerusalem and its sanctities. Jordan, Haina noted, is facing “remarkable” pressure on its resources and infrastructure, for receiving multiple refugee waves, the latest was Syrian. Haina indicated that return of Syria as an Arab League member is a “positive” sign, calling on strengthening Jordanian-Turkish relations in various tourism, trade, economy and parliament fields. Meanwhile, the committee’s members stressed the need to strengthen bilateral relations in various medical and commercial tourism fields. The lawmakers offered condolences to the Turkish ambassador over the recent earthquake, which claimed lives of thousands of victims. For his part, the envoy said bilateral relations are witnessing “great” development in various trade and tourism fields. Stressing “identical” Turkish-Jordanian position on the Palestinian cause, Erdem highlighted the necessity of making just and comprehensive peace to establish an independent Palestinian state on June 4, 1967 borders. The envoy also pointed to the importance of restoring Syria to its Arab depth by activating its Arab League membership, valuing Jordan’s initiative to help Syria restore its Arab League membership. Erdem valued Jordan’s positions under His Majesty King Abdullah II’s positions for its assistance provided after the earthquake that recently struck Turkiye.
