Johnnie Moore, President of the Congress of Christian Leaders, said that the UN Climate Change Conference is a historic occasion, as it places great emphasis on the faith community through the Faith Pavilion, which he described as ‘a piece of history’.
In a statement on the sidelines of COP28, Moore said that it is fitting that COP28 is being held in the UAE, because he believes it is ‘a country that doesn’t know the word impossible’.
‘Everything that it does is historic, it is impactful, it is on scale. And this is an example of that. And if you want to affect change in the world, the best way of doing it is engaging with communities of faith. We live in an incredibly, incredibly religious world.’
He said that the UAE is ‘where people come from all over the world to solve our biggest problem’.
Moore added that the Faith Pavilion showed how individuals can be involved in addressing climate-related issues, noting that there is no more effective and better way to do it than to do it through communities of
faith.
The fact COP28 is ‘happening here in the UAE makes it far more effective’, he said in conclusion
