The 55th edition of the general conference of the Association of Arab Universities (AARU) kicked off in Tunisia Saturday 18/03/2023 with the participation of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour.
The conference provides a chance to share experiences and information, as well as to plan for the future of higher education in the Arab world, Ashour told the session.
The digital transformation axis in higher education has undergone a profound leap, as digital technologies enhance research capabilities by allowing researchers to access and analyze data, collaborate with colleagues remotely, use advanced tools and programs, and assist in the completion of routine administrative tasks, the minister said.
Digital technologies also provide students with a more appealing educational experience, such as online simulations, virtual labs, and multimedia content, and can also give real-time data on their current levels and interests and help them identify areas where they want further assistance, he added.
The AARU is a non-governmental organization that has an independent legal character.
Its membership includes 390 Arab Universities and educational institutions at the present time.
It was established in 1964 upon a resolution issued by the Arab League. The mission of AARU aims at “Assisting and coordinating the efforts of Arab Universities to prepare capable graduates who can serve their Arab communities and preserve its unified culture and civilization, as well as to assist in developing its natural resources.”
