Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Azmi Mahaftha met on Tuesday with ambassadors of Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia, in addition to the Chargé d’affaires of the Brunei Embassy in Jordan.
The meeting covered issues of interest to the various parties such as: Recognition of higher education institutions, exchange of visits between faculty members and students, joint academic programs, attracting more students from these countries to study in various disciplines of Jordanian universities, especially Arabic language and Islamic law, signing agreements between universities, and executive memorandums and programs between ministries.
In turn, the ambassadors expressed appreciation for the role of the Ministry of Higher Education and its efforts to follow up on the affairs of expatriate students studying in various Jordanian higher education institutions.
There are 654 students from the Philippines, 1800 from Malaysia, 598 from Indonesia, 220 from Thailand, and 9 students from
Brunei currently studying in various Jordanian higher education institutions.
