Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour said intellectual property can play an active role in achieving comprehensive development in all sectors in the country in order to achieve sustainable development and Egypt Vision 2030.
Speaking at a ceremony to launch the National Strategy for Intellectual Property on Wednesday 21/9/2022, Ashour said the intellectual property is very important and contributes mainly to promoting innovations and creations in the society.
The minister said the strategy is clearly connected with the National Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation that aims to establish an active and productive IT and scientific base for knowledge, which is capable of promoting innovations and boosting the performance of national economy in the homeland.
The move is meant to achieve sustainable development, double knowledgeable production, improve quality of life, increase the competitive edge of national industry and overcome any challenges in the society, according to him.
The National Strategy for Intellectual Property has certain goals, that have to do with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The strategy comes in line with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Development Agenda and structural reforms program, that is adopted by the government in order to achieve harmony and integration between policies and goals of the state in all domains.
The strategy is the first ever step of its kind for intellectual property and calls for realizing governance of institutional structure of intellectual property by establishing a national apparatus for intellectual property.
It also aims to boost and promote digital transformation and provide registration services in IT methods.
The strategy aims to pave the way for a legislative environment about IP and support digital transformation in government services as well as spread the concepts of innovation by merging such concepts with all phases of the educational process
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli attended the launch of the strategy, sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
