Supply Minister Ali el Moslehi said on Sunday a higher committee will be formed to price 10 to 15 basic commodities in accordance with production cost and main inputs.
The committee will include members of Federation of Egyptian Industries, Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Consumer Protection Agency, the minister said during a meeting with ministry deputies and directors of directorates across the nation.
He also ordered the formation of committees grouping supply directorates, consumer protection agency and food safety authority, to monitor markets and shops to make sure that all commodities are clearly priced in implementation of directives of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli.
On Wednesday, Madbouli announced a two-week deadline for all retailers nationwide to place price-tags on their wares in a bid to stop unreasonable price hikes on commodities.
The minister directed launching campaigns on places away from the capitals of the governorates and big cities to make sure they abide by price regulations and to take legal action against violators.
