The Health Ministry has said that a new monkeypox case was detected in Egypt.
The newly infected person, 34, had been in close contact with a resident of a European country who was on a visit to Egypt and had been earlier diagnosed with the disease.
This is the second case to be detected in Egypt. The first was of the European visitor and was announced on December 8.
The infected person is being treated at a Health Ministry hospital.
