Cairo: Dr. Abla Al-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health for Population and Family Development, announced significant progress in the use of family planning programs across health facilities. The Ministry is actively working to support medical services and address any challenges to improve the health system’s workflow.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Abla Al-Alfi confirmed that the use of long-term family planning methods has escalated by 60% at health units. She emphasized the importance of guiding all prospective spouses to a counseling room before they obtain a health certificate. This measure ensures that couples receive comprehensive information about reproductive health.
Dr. Al-Alfi also highlighted the inaccuracies in recording breastfeeding data in medical records at health units. She called for enhanced evaluation mechanisms to better monitor absolute breastfeeding rates. Additionally, she stressed the need to direct mothers to specialized counseling, particularly in cases of anemia or malnutrition, to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
