Cairo: Dr. Abla Al-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health for Population and Family Development, announced significant progress in the use of family planning services across health facilities, highlighting a 60% increase in the adoption of long-term methods. This development is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to bolster medical services and resolve challenges to streamline health system operations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Dr. Al-Alfi emphasized the importance of guiding prospective spouses to counseling sessions before obtaining health certificates, ensuring they receive comprehensive information on reproductive health. This initiative is aimed at fostering informed decisions regarding family planning.
Dr. Al-Alfi also addressed the issue of inaccurate breastfeeding data in medical records, advocating for improved evaluation techniques to better monitor breastfeeding rates. She stressed the necessity of directing mothers, especially those dealing with anemia or malnutrition, to specialized counseling services for support and guidance.
