Health Ministry directs rapid completion of 1st electronic platform for health tourism


Ministry of Health and Population chaired the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Medical Tourism, to discuss the recommendations that had been accomplished and the special preparations to launch the first electronic platform for health tourism in Egypt, in the presence of representatives of the ministries and concerned authorities, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that at the beginning of the meeting, the members of the committee were welcomed, praising their fruitful efforts during the last period, where they reviewed a presentation and a preliminary concept ‘Demo’ of the form and design of the electronic platform for health tourism, the method of registration on it, and the services that are provided.

The platform makes it available to tourists seeking treatment or hospitalization, and directs the rapid completion of the final preparations for the platform, in preparatio
n for its launch in the coming period as the first electronic platform for health tourism in Egypt.

Abdul Ghaffar pointed out that directives have been given to include all hospitals, health facilities and medical centers that have both local and international accreditation certificates within the electronic platform for health tourism, stressing that the platform is the best example of partnership between the government and private sectors, and it also enhances the supervisory role of the relevant ministries. Which will work within a national entity that will undertake the management, supervision and operation, as well as marketing of the electronic platform.

Abdel Ghaffar continued that the recommendations that were accomplished in the first meeting were discussed during the meeting, as the minister praised the cooperation protocols that were concluded with several countries and destinations to promote health tourism in Egypt.

A cooperation agreement was concluded with the Egyptian Medical Association in
the United Kingdom and the British Egyptian Association to seek the assistance of Egyptian experts abroad in the field of training medical personnel in Egyptian hospitals.

A cooperation agreement was also concluded with the Egyptian African Company for Development Projects to use the medical centers it owns in several African countries as marketing centers for the medical tourism project in Egypt.

Another cooperation agreement was also concluded with the Commercial Representation Authority. Affiliated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for marketing medical tourism abroad.
