Health Minister Reiterates Egyptian Government’s Commitment to Supporting Palestinians

Arish: The Arab League has pledged $400,000 in humanitarian aid for the Gaza Strip and two ambulances, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar announced Saturday 15/2/2025. Abdel-Ghaffar said Egypt would also provide ambulances to transport injured Palestinians and deliver urgent medical care, reiterating the Egyptian government’s commitment to supporting Palestinians facing the current humanitarian crisis.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel-Ghaffar emphasized the importance of addressing the needs of the Palestinian people and the necessity of continued humanitarian and medical support for those in Gaza. He made these remarks during a tour of Egyptian Red Crescent warehouses in Arish, where relief supplies for Gaza are received and sorted.

Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsi, along with an Arab League delegation including Assistant Secretary-General Hossam Zaki and Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector, accompanied Abdel-Ghaffar during the tour. The delegation was briefed on the logistics of aid delivery, which arrives by land, sea to Arish port, and air to Arish International Airport, before being prepared and transported by truck to Gaza via the Rafah crossing.

North Sinai governor Khaled Megawer stated on Thursday that Egypt has received 12,000 wounded and sick Gazans, including 2,500 children, since the ceasefire began on 19 January. The 15-month war resulted in the deaths of more than 48,000 Gazans and left over 110,000 wounded, primarily women and children, leading to the collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system.
