Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar lauded strategic ties between Egypt and Spain in different fields, notably the healthcare sector.

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar’s remarks came during his meeting on Tuesday 7/2/2023 with Spanish Ambassador in Cairo Alvaro Iranzo Gutiérrez, as they discussed means of fostering cooperation in the healthcare sector, said Spokesman for the Health Ministry Hossam Abdel Ghaffar.

The two sides probed the possibility of making the best use of Spanish experience in ophthalmology, through dispatching Egyptian medical teams and receiving Spanish medical experts in this specialty, with a view to developing ophthalmology hospitals in Egypt, the spokesman added.

The pair also explored how to benefit from Spain’s expertise in transplanting organs and treating liver cancer, by training Egyptian medical teams, nursing staff and other healthcare providers, with the aim of honing their skills and improving the quality of medical services offered to citizens.
