Cairo: Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, has engaged with a delegation from the United Kingdom for International Hospitals to explore ways to enhance cooperation and expand investment opportunities in Egypt’s healthcare sector. This meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Deputy Prime Minister welcomed the UK delegation, expressing eagerness to open new collaborative opportunities. He emphasized that the political leadership in Egypt prioritizes the healthcare sector and is committed to attracting both local and foreign investments as part of the nation’s sustainable development plan.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the discussions focused on investment prospects within Egypt’s healthcare sector. Topics included the exchange of expertise in managing medical facilities, particularly in mental health, and leveraging the medical group’s experience in various specialties.
Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the review of the “Sukina” mental health and addiction treatment hospital in New Alamein, which accommodates 950 beds and includes outpatient clinics and various departments. The meeting underscored the recent efforts by the Egyptian state to enhance mental health services and rehabilitate addiction patients, aiding their societal integration.
The Ministry’s spokesperson also mentioned discussions on capacity building, human resource development, and the training of medical staff to improve healthcare quality. Additionally, joint cooperation in digital transformation was discussed, aiming to utilize health-related databases and information.
The UK delegation expressed confidence in Egypt’s investment climate and their desire to deepen investment partnerships to provide safe and comprehensive healthcare services. They conveyed enthusiasm for future cooperation.
