Cairo: Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, convened an important meeting to deliberate over Egypt’s national strategy aimed at expanding the accessibility of its pharmaceutical products to global markets. The meeting took place at the Ministry of Health and Population’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, aligning with the Egyptian government’s overarching objectives to bolster exports and enhance its footprint in international markets.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the critical role of promoting Egyptian exports, particularly in the pharmaceuticals and medical supplies sector. This initiative is pivotal for economic growth and supports the national economy, capitalizing on Egypt’s substantial production capabilities to position itself as a regional hub for exporting medicines and medical supplies globally. The focus remains on aligning with international standards to meet global market demands.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, Spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the meeting concentrated on crafting a comprehensive vision with effective implementation strategies and clear timelines. These plans are aimed at expanding Egypt’s presence in global markets, in harmony with the government’s export promotion agenda and national industry support. Discussions were also directed towards enhancing trade volumes in the pharmaceutical and medical supplies sectors to foster growth locally and internationally.
Mr. Abdel Ghaffar further noted the minister’s call for collaboration among stakeholders in both public and private sectors to achieve these strategic goals. The minister highlighted the importance of addressing challenges that could obstruct export growth and coordinated with relevant entities to resolve these issues. Appreciation was extended to the participants for their contributions, with an affirmation that the strategy would significantly advance Egypt’s medical export sector in the near future, leveraging the country’s substantial assets, skilled workforce, and modern infrastructure.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to conduct joint sessions to establish implementation mechanisms for the national strategy’s objectives. Attendees included key figures such as Dr. Ali El Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, Dr. Hisham Abu Sitt, Chairman of the Unified Procurement Authority, Ambassador Abu Bakr Hefni, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, among other prominent officials and industry leaders.
