Cairo: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar met with Belgian Ambassador to Egypt Bart De Groof to discuss enhancing cooperation in the healthcare sector between Egypt and Belgium.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, underscored the robust bilateral relationship and examined potential areas for future collaboration. Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the discussions, noting the gratitude expressed by Minister Abdel Ghaffar for Belgium’s early support in developing Egypt’s healthcare system, particularly in providing medical care to injured Palestinians.
Both parties agreed to explore the exchange of medical expertise through training programs. This initiative would involve Belgian experts visiting Egypt and Egyptian healthcare professionals receiving training in Belgium, as mentioned by the spokesman. Additionally, Minister Abdel Ghaffar extended an
invitation to Belgian experts and pharmacists to visit Egyptian pharmaceutical factories and hospitals to gain firsthand insight into the country’s healthcare system and public health initiatives.
The discussions also covered cooperation in the fields of radiology and burn care. Attention was given to Egypt’s efforts in providing comprehensive support to injured Palestinians. Ambassador De Groof expressed gratitude for the facilitation provided by Minister Abdel Ghaffar to enhance cooperation between the two nations and acknowledged his efforts in advancing Egypt’s health sector.
The Belgian ambassador praised the Ministry of Health’s role in delivering medical services to injured Palestinians in Egyptian hospitals and extended an invitation to Minister Abdel Ghaffar to visit several medical facilities in Belgium.
