Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, met with Dr. Haitham Awadalla, Sudan’s Minister of Health, to explore opportunities for joint cooperation in the health sector between the two countries.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health, and Human Development (PHDC24), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with the theme ‘Human Development: For a Sustainable Future’ in the new administrative capital.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Abdel Ghaffar welcomed the Sudanese minister and his delegation, highlighting the deep and historic bilateral relations between Egypt and Sudan across various fields, particularly in health.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, noted that the discussions focused on enhancing and sustaining cooperation in the health sector, including the support Egypt provides to Sudan. The meeting also
addressed updates on increasing training opportunities for Sudanese doctors through Egyptian fellowship programs and the assistance offered by Egypt to Sudan under the Arab Fund for Health Development.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed potential collaborations in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical production. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized his commitment to facilitating cooperation in this area and ensuring that all necessary healthcare resources are available to Sudanese nationals in Egypt.
