Health and Population Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held on Thursday 26/9/2024 a meeting with Roche Egypt company to follow up updates on localising medicine manufacture as part of efforts to put Egypt Vision 2030 into effect.
The meeting comes as part of the health ministry’s effort to strengthen the domestic drug industry, encourage investments in this vital sector and overcome any hurdles blocking the advancement and expansion of the national industry in a bid to secure availability of medicines at affordable price.
Health Ministry spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the meeting discussed developments of localizing advanced medicines used in the treatment of different types of cancer, including colon, ovarian, lung, and cervical cancer, in addition to liver cancer treatment protocols, and some vital medications used in the treatment of lung cancer.
The meeting also referred to the strategic partnership between EVA Pharma for Pharmaceuticals and Roche Swiss Company, the spokesman said, adding it is the
first of its kind in the region and Africa to manufacture vital and advanced medications and it will boost Egypt’s know-how in the health domain so that it can turn from technology consumer to producer.
