Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, welcomed Dr. Abdelmajid Abdallah, Minister of Health of the Republic of Chad, along with his accompanying delegation, to discuss avenues for joint cooperation.

This meeting took place on the sidelines of the second edition of the World Conference on Population, Health, and Human Development (PHDC24), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with the theme ‘Human Development: For a Sustainable Future’ in the New Administrative Capital.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that the minister opened the meeting by expressing his warm welcome to his Chadian counterpart and the delegation, emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, which have maintained close ties over the years.

The spokesman noted that the discussion focused on enhancing cooperation to support the Republic of Chad with medical convoys acro
ss various health fields. He highlighted the necessity of preparing a list of medical needs, including rare specialties, to ensure the provision of essential health support to Chad.

He mentioned that Egypt has previously sent numerous medical convoys to Chad, including 15 dialysis machines to equip a dialysis unit. Plans are underway to dispatch a medical convoy and a comprehensive ophthalmology team, featuring specialists trained to the highest standards.

The meeting also addressed providing Chad with the necessary pharmaceutical supplies to alleviate medicine shortages. The Chadian delegation praised the quality, effectiveness, and safety of Egyptian medications.

Collaborative efforts were discussed to combat various epidemic diseases and the ongoing project to establish an Egyptian hospital in Chad, aimed at enhancing medical services for the Chadian people, Abdel Ghaffar added.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to send specialized and highly trained medical teams to Chad, facilitating the transfer of Eg
yptian expertise across multiple fields. Furthermore, he mentioned the opportunity for Chadian doctors to receive training in Egypt through specialized programs in all medical disciplines.
