Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council President Rashad al-Alimi hailed on Saturday Egypt’s efforts, under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to host thousands of Yemenis because of the war circumstances, the Yemeni news agency reported.
In a speech on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Unity Day of Yemen, Alimi stressed the council and government’s commitment to supporting the UN efforts to extend the humanitarian truce and their adherence to the Saudi initiative.
Alimi hailed the national parties’ unity against the Houthi rebel group, saying it reflects their insistence to restore the state’s role.
He also praised the efforts exerted by the UN and US envoys to end the Yemeni people’s suffering, calling on the international community to press the Houthi group to continue the procedures of swapping prisoners and paying salaries for the civil servants.
