JERUSALEM: The Higher Presidential Committee for Churches Affairs in Palestine said that the ongoing genocide deepens the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza during the Holy Month of Ramadan, calling it a ‘collective stain on humanity’s conscience.’
It said in a statement that ‘Gaza stands as a testament to the erosion of fundamental human values.’
‘As we approach Ramadan, the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza continue to endure a profound catastrophe, marked by indiscriminate killings, forced displacements, starvation, and lack of basic necessities, such as food, water, and medicine,’ the statement said. ‘Despite these atrocities unfolding before the international community, there has been a glaring inability to hold Israel accountable and force it to end its war crimes in Gaza. Gaza stands as a testament to the erosion of fundamental human values.’
‘In this sacred month, the Committee calls upon everyone to swiftly alleviate the suffering and injustice inflicted upon the Palestinian people
in Gaza and the rest of occupied Palestine. It emphasizes that the persistent genocide in Gaza remains a collective stain on humanity’s conscience.’
‘At the same time, the Committee warns against the Israeli occupation’s aggression and attempts to control and restrict access to the Al Aqsa Mosque Compound in occupied Jerusalem during this Holy Month. Such measures constitute a crime under international law and a violation of the freedom of worship. Furthermore, crimes perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces and settlers continue to escalate in cities, villages, and refugee camps across the occupied West Bank,’ the statement added.
‘With unwavering confidence in the resilience of the Palestinian people, who have triumphed over countless challenges. The struggle of the Palestinian people will ultimately materialize in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, where Palestinians can enjoy a life of freedom, security, and dignity, like the rest of the people worldwide
,’ the statement concluded.
