The Health Minister of Jordan, Firas Hawari, and the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, discussed Monday ties between Jordan and the Kurdistan region, strengthening cooperation in health and leveraging Jordan’s expertise. This came when Barzani received Hawari in Erbil, where Hawari said Jordan is committed to providing support and coordination in health to the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq and the region’s Health Ministry. Barzani praised the cooperation and coordination between Jordan and Kurdistan’s health ministries, adding that the Kurdistan region and Iraq can benefit from Jordan’s experience in medicine and education. Separately, the Prime Minister of the region, Masrour Barzani, and Hawari discussed organising the Jordanian-Kurdish Health Week, which is currently taking place in Erbil. Barzani lauded Jordan for supporting the Kurdistan region, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and sending a field hospital to the region, noting the “importance” of strengthening health cooperation with Jordan.
