Hamas and Jihad: Any agreement must achieve a comprehensive cessation of aggression and a complete withdrawal from the Gaza Strip

Jerusalem – Ma’an – Head of the Shura Council of Hamas, Mohammed Darwish, and a delegation from the movement’s leadership received on Wednesday, Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziad al-Nakhalah, and his deputy, Dr. Mohammed al-Hindi, at the movement’s headquarters, where they discussed the overall political and field developments.

The two leaderships extended their great appreciation and gratitude to our struggling and patient Palestinian people in Gaza who are facing the genocidal war waged by the occupation, stressing the necessity of stopping the aggression and war to which our people are being subjected and punishing the occupation leaders for the crimes they are committing against humanity.

The meeting reviewed the developments on the ground, the resistance’s steadfastness and its ability to strike all of occupied Palestine. It also discussed the progress of the indirect negotiations and the occupation’s position obstructing the mediators’ efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement and exc
hange prisoners, stressing the position of the resistance and the Palestinian people that any agreement must achieve a comprehensive cessation of aggression, a complete withdrawal from the Strip, the start of reconstruction, and an end to the siege with a serious exchange deal. They held the occupation leaders responsible for aborting the efforts of the mediators by insisting on continuing the aggression and denying what had happened in previous stages, especially the proposal that the movement approved on July 2.

The attendees stressed the need to ensure the rapid delivery of humanitarian aid and the needs of citizens in the Strip, regardless of the results of the ongoing indirect negotiations, warning of the consequences of the continued collective punishments imposed by the occupation against our people in the Strip.
