Grand Egyptian Museum Recognized as One of the World’s Most Beautiful Museums in 2024.

Paris: The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been selected by Prix Versailles as one of the most beautiful museums in the world in 2024. Egypt’s Ambassador to Paris and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Alaa Youssef, received the certificate of recognition from the organization at a ceremony held at UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Ambassador Alaa Youssef, in his speech during the ceremony, highlighted the exceptional cultural value reflected in the architectural design of the Grand Egyptian Museum. This design ingeniously combines ancient Egyptian history with the heritage environment surrounding the museum in the Pyramids of Giza. The contemporary artistic vision incorporated into the design takes into account the latest structural engineering methods to ensure the project’s environmental sustainability.

Ambassador Youssef detailed the various components of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is
considered the largest museum in the world that houses the archaeological properties of a single civilization, the Pharaonic civilization. He encouraged attendees to visit the museum to experience the unrivalled artefacts it houses. He also noted that the museum was recently partially opened in preparation for its official opening in the coming period.

The Prix Versailles is an international award that has been awarded annually since 2015 in the field of architecture. It recognizes the world’s best structures such as museums, universities, airports, and more, that have been designed to combine originality, innovation, and environmental sustainability.
