Gov’t Report Highlights Cybersecurity Progress


The latest progress report on the Economic Modernization Vision (2023-2025) outlined significant advancements in Jordan’s cybersecurity sector during the first half of the year.

The report detailed efforts to enhance government institutions’ cybersecurity capabilities through the procurement of advanced technological tools and systems to strengthen the capacity for accurate investigation, early detection and effective response to cyber incidents.

The National Cybersecurity Governance Program played a key role in managing and building national cyber capabilities, ensuring they are protected from potential disruptions. In addition, the launch of the Cybersecurity Excellence Award was announced, targeting institutions in both the public and private sectors as well as youth, to promote excellence in cybersecurity practices.

The report also mentioned the drafting of a licensing system for cybersecurity service providers and the development of standards for industrial operating systems within critical infrastruc
ture sectors.

The energy sector was selected as the first to begin developing a sectoral cybersecurity plan. A project to train 100 government institutions on the national cybersecurity framework and its controls and standards was also initiated.

Efforts to enhance cybersecurity partnerships at local, regional and international levels continued, alongside the implementation of various educational and awareness initiatives.

The report highlighted the start of the qualifying round for the “Cyber Warriors for Universities” competition. Preparations were also made to sign memoranda of understanding with international counterparts and to establish cooperative partnerships with local universities, according to the report.
