The Cabinet Media Center has dismissed news circulating on social media websites claiming that some girls were kidnapped while traveling on public transport after being injected with an anesthetic drug.

In a statement issued Friday, the center said it contacted the Ministry of Interior over the matter and the ministry categorially denied such news, saying no complaints or reports have been filed to that effect at any governorate.

The ministry urged citizens not to heed such allegations as they are mere rumors only meant to stir panic among the public and to report any incident that violates the law to the security authorities concerned to take all required legal measures.
