Govt denies evacuating Cairo Univ. dorms amid rumors of canceling 2nd academic term

The Cabinet’s media center denied Friday reports claiming that Cairo University has evacuated its dorms, ahead of the cancelation of the second academic term at all universities nationwide.

The Higher Education Ministry refuted such reports as “baseless,” the media center asserted after contacting the ministry.

All university dorms are operational with full capacity till the end of the first academic term. The students should return to dorms again in the beginning of the second term, it added.

Evacuating the dorms during the mid-year vacation is a routine measure to disinfect all the facility, in addition to installing a new firefighting network.

The center urged all news outlets and social media users to seek accuracy to avoid any misleading information.
