Governor Hamayel receives the Prime Minister on his visit to Jericho and Al-Aghwar Governorate


The Governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley, Hussein Hamayel, received Prime Minister Muhammad Mustafa, during his first visit to the governorate headquarters, today, Saturday.

This was in the presence of Lieutenant General Hajj Ismail Jabr, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Istiqlal University, the Minister of Interior, Major General Ziad Hab Al-Rih, and the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Dr. Amjad Barham, leaders of the security services in Jericho, directors of government institutions and the Chamber of Commerce in Jericho, mayors, local authorities, popular committees, and representatives of Christian communities in the governorate.

Hamayel welcomed Prime Minister Dr. Muhammad Mustafa in Jericho Governorate, stressing the government’s interest in developing and supporting the eastern and touristic gateway to Palestine, and advancing development and establishing a fully sovereign Palestinian state.

Hamayel briefed Dr. Mustafa on the most important needs of the governorate at the lev
el of all sectors and the violations and attacks it is suffering from by the Israeli occupation, stressing that the civil and security components of the governorate and the notables are behind the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas ‘Abu Mazen.’

Dr. Mustafa reviewed the general political situation, the political movement led by President Mahmoud Abbas, and the efforts made at the international level to break out of the stalemate and political vacuum, especially in light of the Israeli approach aimed at destroying the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He also briefed them on the government’s work agenda and priorities. Most importantly, stopping the aggression against the Gaza Strip, the attacks of the occupation and the colonialists against our people in the West Bank, and the violations against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem, in addition to the difficult financial situation, especially in light of the decline in international support
and Israel’s unjust deductions.

In turn, he thanked Dr. Mustafa, the governor, and the Jericho activities received the good reception, stressing that the government is working within its efforts to advance agriculture, tourism, and all sectors in the Jericho Governorate and the Jordan Valley.
