Amman: Minister of State for Public Sector Modernisation Nasser Shraideh Wednesday said the government is forming a committee to study the impact of preventing dual careers for public sector employees, which entered into force on the first of July.

Shraideh told journalists that the government is “open” to changes to the HR law “to ensure that the citizens’ livelihood is not harmed, which is considered at the top of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s and His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince’s list of priorities.”

Shraideh added that the new HR bylaw and the civil service rate were designed to protect the rights of workers appointed before the law entered into force, explaining that it was not intended to prejudice the employees’ livelihood rights but to improve the public sector’s services.

He said the committee formed to study the impact would consider whether preventing a dual career would affect the staff in terms of acquiring new knowledge and skills through their work in the priva
te sector on the one hand or transferring their expertise to the private sector on the other.
